Published!

I had the absolute honor of making cakes and cupcakes for a photo shoot with the extremely talented Elizabeth Craig

The shoot was vintage tea party - I went with a ombre blue frilled cake to fit the theme, as well as a few cupcakes:

Thanks for allowing me to be part of such a fun project! We are officially published on the Wedding Chicks website!

Graduation Season

It's graduation season and many cakes are needed!
Some to fit grad's interests:

(This student graduated from Bethel Park, plays the cello, loves to ski and ride bikes).
And some to fit where the grad is going to school:

It's always fun to be part of such important days in people's lives.

Happy Graduation Class of 2012!

Characters

Character cakes have been very popular, whether it be a beloved pet:

or a favorite television or movie character:
Yoda 1
Yoda 2

Ni-Hao Kai Lan, Nickelodeon TV show

Madagascar

Super Mario Bros.

Cars 2

Every time I have a request for a character cake, it is SO much fun to do! I love to try and capture what people love about their favorite characters and put it into a fun and vibrant cake.

Back in [Blogging] Action!

Well I feel that I must apologize as I've been awful about the blog business and accidentally took a bit of a hiatus.  So here I will be turning over a new leaf and committing to blogging often so that you can all follow my cake escapades. It has been a busy, busy year. So allow me to fill you in some happenings, and make a promise to be more dedicated to updating!

There have been many bridal showers and weddings, which I just can't get enough of.  I'm not going to drone on and on, so I'll just let the pictures do the talking. Enjoy:

I've been so honored to be able to be a part of such a special day! There's more to come. :)

Hope for Haiti

Soon after the devastating earthquakes hit Haiti, I learned of 2 amazing sisters from Pittsburgh that have devoted their lives to helping the orphans of this grief-stricken country for over 8 years.  I was blown away by their passion and dedication.  [Check out their non-profit Haitian Orphan Rescue!]

Because this is something so close to my heart, I was absolutely honored to be able to make a cake for their second annual fundraiser, Ti Kanaval, at Whim nightclub in Station Square.
The bottom tier is the Haitian flag-- french vanilla sour cream cake with tri-berry filling and fresh raspberries. vanilla buttercream frosting.  The middle tier is hands of hope-- dark chocolate sour cream cake with hot fudge filling and chocolate fudge buttercream.  The top tier is a map of Haiti-- pineapple cake with coconut buttercream.
This was such a fun and inspirational cake to make.  Thanks for the opportunity ladies and good luck on future endeavors!

Super Wedding

This past weekend I got the absolute pleasure of making a surprise groom's cake after my favorite childhood video game-- Super Mario Brothers!   I LOVE a challenge and this proved to be one... especially when the 9 inch cake toppers showed up...

but it was so much fun and I'm glad it was able to work out like I pictured it:

I was definitely tempted to break my Nintendo out to do "research."  Unfortunately I was too busy... Good thing I have every inch of every level permenantly burned into my mind.  ;)

The groom was surprised and it was fun to see the reactions of people at the wedding.
So fun! Thanks for letting me be part of your special day guys! smile
